Grandfather charged with assault

On the 16th of April 2013, a 70 year old St. Thomas man was arrested after assaulting his 15 year old grandson. An argument started at the dinner table resulting in a physical altercation between the two. The youth was assaulted and choked by his Grandfather, however did not seek any medical attention. The Grandfather was located later that evening and was arrested for the assault and choking and was also arrested for impaired driving. The 70 year old male was charged with; assault, choking, Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and operate motor vehicle more than 80mgs blood alcohol. He was released later that evening with numerous conditions and driver’s licence suspension.

In the early morning hours of April 17, 2013 a 31 year old St. Thomas man was arrested and charged after assaulting a 27 year old female. Both had left a local establishment on the South East end of town. Witnesses observed the assault and contacted police. Without the witnesses police would not have easily located the involved parties. St. Thomas Police encourage witnesses to call when witnessing a crime and try to stay on the line as long as possible to assist with the location of the involved people.

Break and Enter at the Churchill Plaza

Just before 7:00am on April 17, 2013, Police responded to a break and enter at the Natures Balance Health food store located in the Churchill Plaza. A rock was thrown through the front window, numerous items were taken and the store left in disarray. Anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information is asked to contact Cst. Bryant of the St. Thomas Police or call Crime Stoppers.
