On October 30, 2012 at 5:35pm a concerned citizen contacted the St. Thomas police in regards to a suspected impaired driver. Police located the vehicle behind a business in the area of Talbot Street and First Avenue. Police spoke with the driver, a 72 year old St. Thomas woman. Police determined that her ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
She was arrested and transported to the police station for processing. The 72 year old provided breath samples of 220 and 210 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. Police charged the woman with impaired driving and in excess of 80 milligrams.
The woman was released from custody on conditions that include a future court date.
