Just after 2:00am an Officer on patrol observed a vehicle in the area of Talbot Street and Princess Avenue exit a licenced establishment and travel East. The Officer made some observations and then pulled the vehicle over on Talbot Street and Woodworth area. The driver was spoken to and alcohol odour could be detected. The Officer administered a roadside screening device to the driver who registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Police Station where he provided a breath sample which was over the legal limit.
40-year old Lewis Heffren, from Aylmer faces one charge of driving with more than 80mgs. He was released with a future court date and an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension.
The passenger in the vehicle was known to Police and was found to have alcohol conditions in place due to a previous impaired driving charge from October 2016. As a result the 40-year old male from Aylmer was arrested and charged with one count of breach of undertaking to an Officer in Charge and one count of breach of Probation. He was held pending a bail hearing.
