Early on Sunday morning St. Thomas Police received information regarding an impaired driver in the south end of the city heading towards Talbot Street. The vehicle was observed by the officers and a traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the stop, a 49 year old St. Thomas man was arrested for impaired operation. He was transported to the police station for breath tests where he produced two samples of breath that contained more than twice the legal limit of blood alcohol. The man was later released from custody with a future court date and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
On early Sunday morning police were dispatched to a south end residence regarding a domestic dispute. Upon police arrival an 18 year old female told the officers that she has just been kicked by her 20 year old common law boyfriend and then he broke her cell phone. The male then left the residence but was located a short time later at another residence. He was subsequently arrested for assault and mischief to property and transported to the police station for a court appearance. The female’s injuries did not require medical attention.
