Internet Luring

The St. Thomas Police Services Criminal Investigation Branch has charged a 27 year old male with several internet luring offences.

In 2016, the police service applied for and was granted provincial funding to establish a Technological Crimes Officer with responsibilities in digital forensics and internet child exploitation matters. The officer was heavily trained over the year and in late fall, this luring investigation began. After a month of detailed investigation, evidence of criminal offences has been collected.

As a result, the man faces numerous charges including; telecommunications with a child for criminal purposes, making arrangement through telecommunications to commit sexual offences against a child, sexual interference and sexual assault.

A subsequent search warrant was executed at the man’s residence where computer equipment was seized.
