On Wednesday May 7, 2014 at approximately 10:50pm, St. Thomas Police Officers observed a 31 year old male operating a motor vehicle that was currently wanted for outstanding charges of breach of probation. He pulled into the laneway of a residence on Erinlea Dr. A 31 year old female, known to Police, was seen being pulled back into the vehicle while trying to exit once police emergency lights were activated. The vehicle then drove at a Police cruiser. A pursuit was initiated then quickly terminated when the threat to public safety became too great.
The investigation continued which then lead to the assistance of the London Police Service. At 2:42am on Thursday May 8th, 2014 LPS became involved in a foot pursuit with the accused. Police Service Dog Bosco, had been severely injured during the search.
Cst. James and Trax were called to assist at an East London address that resulted in the successful arrest of the male.
In addition to the charges outstanding, and the additional ones in London, the accused has been charged with; five counts of Breach of Probation, one count of Breach of Recognizance (party to the offence), three counts of Disqualified Driving, one count of Flight from Police, and one count of Dangerous Driving.
The female passenger was later arrested and charged with one count of Fail to Comply with Undertaking, Breach Probation (party to the offence) and one count of Permitting Motor Vehicle to Operate without Insurance. They were both held for a Bail Hearing.
Our thoughts are with PSD Bosco and his handler Cst. Stanley during his recovery efforts.
