Male Charged with Assault with Weapon

On June 16, 2016 at approximately 2:40 PM, St. Thomas Police were called to a down town rooming house for a report of a male wielding an ax at another male. Upon police arrival, the situation had deescalated. Investigation by police revealed that a 58 year old male who lived at the rooming house became upset with the manager and attempted to strike him with an ax. The victim was able to defend himself and disarm his attacker. St. Thomas Police charged 58 year old Walter Waters of St. Thomas with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of weapons dangerous to the public and released him from custody with a future court date. The victim did not suffer any injuries as a result of the incident.
