On Sunday May 11, 2014 at around 12:30am the St. Thomas Police were dispatched to a single motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Elm Street. The male driver a 53 year old resident of St. Thomas was arrested at the scene for Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle.

Motorcycle Driver Charged With Impaired

On Sunday May 11, 2014 at around 12:30am the St. Thomas Police were dispatched to a single motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Elm Street. The male driver a 53 year old resident of St. Thomas was arrested at the scene for Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle. The driver who sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the accident was transported to the Elgin General Hospital for treatment. While at the hospital the male driver of the motorcycle provided Police with two breath samples which resulted in readings indicating that he had over twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. The male driver is charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. The male was treated at hospital and released with a future court date.
