At approximately 2:38pm on February 1, 2016, the St. Thomas Police received a call regarding a robbery in progress at B & L Jewellery. Officers arrived on scene to find a store employee that had been assaulted during the incident.

Information received was that a lone male had entered the store, assaulted the employee as well as a customer that was inside and fled out the rear door with an undisclosed amount of jewellery. The K9 unit was called in however the track was unsuccessful.

Our Forensic Identification Officer is currently processing the scene. We are continuing to gather information and interview the victims to assist us with a suspect description. One victim, the store employee, was transported to the Elgin General Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries. The other victim suffered minor injuries however; this incident was traumatic for the both of them.

This incident is still under investigation and we will provide an update as soon as more information becomes available.
