St. Thomas police were notified of a possible impaired driver in the area of Talbot St and Princess St by a concerned citizen around 3:00am on October 28, 2016. A description of the vehicle was provided along with the licence plate. At approximately 3:20am the vehicle was spotted and stopped on Ross St. just South of Wellington St. The Officer observed the driver climb over to the passenger side, crawl over the passenger who was seated and exit the vehicle. The Officer spoke with the male and could smell alcohol on his breath, he also observed the drivers inability to walk and speak properly all believed to be caused by the consumption of alcohol.
The male was placed under arrest for Impaired driving and was transported to the station where he provided samples of his breath that registered over 2X the legal limit.
In addition to the Impaired driving charge, the 40-year old man from Aylmer is charged with; drive more than 80-mgs, Breach probation, Drive while suspended X2. He was released later with a future court date with conditions.
