Shoplifter

Loss Prevention Officers at a local grocery store were quick to find a male removing security tags from items within their electronics department. On December 16, 2015 at approximately 1:40pm, the male was observed concealing the items in his coat and walk towards the exit. Police were already on scene which caused the male to return inside the store and towards the washroom area where he was confronted by Police. Merchandise was recovered from within his coat and he was placed under arrest.

Investigation revealed he was also wanted on an arrest warrant for a previous theft and escaping lawful custody. The male also had in his possession a small quantity of a controlled substance.

The 22 year-old male from St. Thomas was arrested on the strength of the warrant and the current theft charge. The male was brought to the Police Station where he was held pending a bail hearing. He faces charges of theft under $5000.00 and possession of a controlled substance. He will also answer to the outstanding charges of theft under and escape lawful custody as well.
