Suspicious vehicle leads to drug charges

The St. Thomas drug enforcement unit (DEU) with assistance from plain clothes and uniform officers seized marihuana worth $160.00 along with drug paraphernalia and cell phones.

On March 13th at 5:30 pm the DEU observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Highview Drive and Wellington Street. Officers approached the vehicle and observed marihuana in plain view. All four occupants of the vehicle were arrested. Two 17 year olds and a 19 year old male were charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking. They were later released with conditions to abide by that include a future court date. The fourth male, 19 years old was also charged with trafficking and breaching terms of a probation order from a previous unrelated matter. He was held in custody pending a morning bail hearing.

Theft of magazine

A 23 year old St. Thomas man was charged after stealing a magazine worth $6.99. The incident happened around noon hour March 13th at a south end pharmacy. The man was stopped by staff after neglecting to pay for the item. Police charged the man with theft under $5000.00 and released him at the scene. He will appear in court April 16th to answer to the charge.
