On the 21st of April 2013 at shortly after midnight St. Thomas Police officers attended the Elgin General Hospital after receiving a report of an adult male seeking medical treatment for a stab wound.
Investigation by police has revealed a physical altercation occurred between several males. This altercation took place near First Ave and Simcoe Street.
The victim was walking with an acquaintance to a residence in the area when words were exchanged with some people on the street. The victim and acquaintance continued to walk but were followed by the same individuals they had just exchanged words with.
One of the males confronted the victim and a physical fight ensued between the two males. A second male joined in the physical altercation and stabbed the victim in the back.
As a result of the investigation by police 2 adult males are facing criminal charges. One of the males is charged with aggravated assault and will make a weekend court appearance while the second male has been charged with assault, released from police custody with a future court appearance.
The victim in this incident has received treatment and has been released.
This incident remains under police investigation.
