Two Arrested on Drug Charges During Traffic Stop

On July 11, 2016 at approximately 11:15 PM, a St. Thomas Police Officer stopped a vehicle in the east end of the city in an attempt to locate a male wanted for breaching his bail conditions. As a result of the investigation that occurred subsequent to the stop, a 25 year old male who is currently residing in St. Thomas (contrary to his bail conditions) was arrested and then searched by the officer. During the search the officer found a quantity of Hydromorph capsules. The 25 year old passenger was charged with 4 counts of failing to comply with release conditions and 2 counts of possessing illegal drugs.
During the investigation, the driver, a 37 year old male, was arrested for possessing illegal drugs as well (Hydromorph) and subsequently searched. The search of the driver found him to be in possession of more Hydromorph capsules, crystal methamphetamine, an ecstasy pill, a prohibited weapon (knife) and numerous pieces of identification belonging to various persons (one confirmed to be stolen). As a result of the driver’s arrest and search, he was charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of stolen property, possession of illegal drugs, and possession for the purpose of trafficking an illegal drug.
Both were held in custody and appeared for a July 12 bail hearing.
