The St. Thomas Police Service has answered several calls for service over the past few days pertaining to theft of items from unlocked vehicles. The crimes have occurred during the night and targeted vehicles have been unlocked. Various items have been stolen including GPS units, iPOD devices, and in some cases, the interior of vehicles have been ransacked. The areas of these recent crimes have been focused on the northend. Anyone with information is asked to contact the STPS or Crimestoppers. *** Please by mindful of valuable property left in vehicles overnight and be sure to lock your vehicles.
Domestic disturbance on street
An alert St. Thomas Police Service officer recognized a domestic disturbance in progress in the downtown core at approximately 0151hrs early Sunday morning. A 21 year old female was observed to be striking her 22 year old commonlaw boyfriend with her purse. The male’s shirt was also ripped in the altercation. The female was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon and transported to the station for processing. Additionally, the female was found to be in possession of a suspected marijuana substance and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. A check of the male revealed that he was bound by an alcohol condition stemming from a prior criminal charge. The male had been consuming alcohol and as such, he was also arrested and charged with Failing to Comply with his OIC Undertaking. Both individuals were held in custody pending a morning court appearance.
The St. Thomas Police investigated a complaint from a 19 year old male who alleged that he was confronted by an unknown male in the downtown core. It was reported that the unknown male (later identified as a 20 year old male) challenged the complainant to fight for no apparent reason. The unknown male allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened to injure the complainant using the knife. Nobody was hurt in the incident. Police investigated the matter and subsequently arrested the 20 year old male and charged him with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Uttering Threats to cause bodily harm. The male was transported to the station for processing and later released on a Promise to Appear with conditions of an OIC Undertaking.
Drunk in a cab
A 52 year old intoxicated female from Leamington found herself in a local cab wanting a ride. The only problem was, she wasn’t able to tell the cabbie where to take her. The female remained in the cab despite requests for her to leave the cab vehicle. Subsequently, the St. Thomas Police Service was called and the female was arrested for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. The female was transported to the station where she was held in custody until sober.
Attempt break and enter
