Celebrating Another Year of Fishing Fun!

Aylmer, ON: It’s that time of year again! Local children will be grabbing their fishing gear for the annual Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Derby on Saturday, July 27th.

This much-anticipated event will take place from 9:00 am until 1:50 pm at the Springwater Conservation Area. There will be hotdogs and drinks for the kids and draw prizes will be awarded at 2:00 pm sharp. There will be officers from Elgin County OPP at the event throughout the morning helping the kids bait hooks and reel in their fish!

The event is sponsored by Fishing Forever, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to funding worthwhile fishing, conservation and education projects. It is also supported by the Police Association of Ontario, Canadian Tire, Catfish Creek Conservation Authority and the Elgin County OPP.

Bob Izumi, well-known fishing personality and chair of Fishing Forever, is an avid supporter of recreational fishing: “Fishing is one of the best ways for parents and other adults to establish productive and healthy relationships with children and promote conservation.”
