Construction Advisory Notice – 2013 Sidewalk Replacement Program – First Avenue, Chestnut Street, Confederation Drive

The City’s Contractor will be commencing construction on the following project: spot repair of sidewalk bays on the west side of First Avenue between Simcoe Street and Brant Avenue, on the north and south sides of Chestnut Street between Churchill Crescent/Third Avenue and First Avenue and on the north side of Confederation Drive between Lakeview Circle (west leg) and Avon Road, tentatively on Friday, May 31, 2013 (weather permitting) and the anticipated completion date is Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

Certain sections of sidewalk were identified as being likely future trip hazards, or having water ponding issues which translate into winter slip hazards. The work will consist of removing existing deficient bays of sidewalk and installing new matching width bays of sidewalk. Hence pedestrian access will not be available at the sidewalk bay removal location for the duration of the work.

Dust and noise should be expected during construction and cannot be completely eliminated by the Contractor. Also, vibratory equipment will be used for compaction purposes. Residents are cautioned to remove any items that may fall from shelves and/or walls.

Please be aware of the potential hazards in the vicinity of the excavations and construction machinery, and inform children accordingly.

We solicit your patience and understanding for a successful completion of this project. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions, please contact
Brian Clement at 519-631-1680 ext. 4151
