Cops Help Kids Cast a Line

St. Thomas, ON: Local police officers will be helping kids cast a line this summer during the fourth annual Kids Fishing Day on July 12.

The derby, which is sponsored by Bear Adventures and the St. Thomas YMCA, will take place from 9:00 am to 2 pm at Pinafore Park for children 12 and under. Kids are asked to bring their own fishing gear, though bait will be supplied by Dixie Dairy Bar and Tackle Shop. There will be a limited number of rods and reels to borrow. A complimentary hotdog lunch will be provided by the St Thomas Police Service cooked by Oscar Jensen. The St. Thomas police officers will be available to lend a helping hand throughout the day. There is no cost to participate, but kids should preregister at the YMCA.

This event is part of the Canada-wide celebration, National Fishing Week, July 6 through 14. To learn more, visit www.catchfishing.com.
