St. Thomas, ON – Nothing is possible without the passion and support of the donors who help power our award-winning Hospital’s pursuit of an excellent patient care experience, nothing.
Thanks to the generosity of philanthropists and good corporate citizens from every corner of Elgin County and beyond, the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation invested more than $555,000 in patient care equipment this past year, including a fetal monitor for Women and Children; a gastroscope for the Operating Room; as well as comfort items for our recently opened Mental Health Unit.
“I am constantly staggered by the generosity of our community,” says Past President of the Foundation Board and current Board Director, Susan O’Brien. “I am inspired by the donors who make our mission possible, and the medical professionals who bring it alive every day. We have an incredible Hospital and I am proud that the Foundation plays an important role in its success.”
The Foundation is also in the midst of its largest fundraiser ever. The Great Expansion of STEGH, a $13 million campaign, will result in a new three storey tower on the northwest corner of our current location. It will include an Emergency Department, Surgical Suite, a permanent home for our Mental Health Unit, as well as a Sterile Processing Department.
“The Foundation’s ability to fund much needed medical equipment even as we’re undergoing a transformational capital campaign highlights just how important every gift is,” explains new Foundation President, Bill Brown. “Our donors are incredible and it’s only because of them that we’re able to have positive impact that we do year in and year out.”
STEGH President & CEO, Paul Collins, is enthusiastic about our Hospital’s future. “I want every single one of our donors to know how much we appreciate their time, talents and passion for the healthcare of our community. Our vision is an excellent patient care experience, every time, and this pursuit shines brightly because of the constant and generous support of the community.”
This year, the Foundation is raising money for a Mammography Unit and once again hopes to transfer $500,000 to the Hospital for this purpose. “It’s never easy to raise money, but we have incredible donors, a strong leadership team, and a high performing Hospital backing our efforts,” explains Foundation Executive Director, Paul Jenkins. “We invite the community to join us as we transform care at STEGH. There are many ways to get involved and the best place to start is by visiting ItsOURHospital.ca.”
Since 1985, the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation has partnered with the community to support OUR Hospital in the delivery of an excellent patient care experience. Through the generosity of OUR donors we invest in the professional development of frontline staff, advanced medical equipment, and the physical infrastructure of our award-winning Hospital. In 2014, we are raising money to purchase a much needed Mammography Unit, as well fulfilling our $13 million commitment to the Great Expansion of STEGH.
