Library now accepts online payments

St. Thomas Public Library, April 25, 2016 – St. Thomas Public Library is happy to announce that it now offers the option for library patrons to pay outstanding fines and fees online! This new online payments function comes on the heels of launching a new library management software at the end of 2015. “Having the ability to pay fines and fees online is a great option for library patrons,” says Sarah Macintyre, Systems and Support Services Librarian. “Some people prefer the privacy of making payments in the comfort of their own home, and that option was not available before.”

The new e-commerce function is part of the library’s management software, Sierra, and all transactions are made through PayPal. “The privacy and security of library cardholders is very important, which is why we chose to work with PayPal,” says Rudi Denham, CEO. “Library patrons can rest assured that no credit card or transaction information passes through or is stored on any of our local servers. We take privacy and security very seriously.” adds Macintyre.

It is now easier than ever for library members to view their library accounts online, and pay any overdue fines or fees that might have been accumulating over the years. Check it out today by visiting stthomaspubliclibrary.ca!
