St. Thomas –While spring brings with it longer days and warmer weather, it also brings melting ice and rains that can make rivers and lakes even more dangerous than normal.
“March Break is approaching and KCCA is warning of the dangers of fast flowing water,” says Luiza Moczarski, public relations supervisor. “A small amount of rainfall can cause creek levels to rise, faster flowing water and stream banks to become unsafe.”
KCCA is urging all parents and caregivers to ensure that children do not play along local waterways. Parents and guardians are urged to keep children off the ice and away from the water. Ice conditions on frozen bodies are unsafe. Stream banks may be slippery and treacherous.
