Public Information Centre – Sunset Drive Ravine Slope Stabilization, Elm Street to Chester Street

17/04/2013

The Project

Stantec Consulting Ltd. has been retained by the City of St. Thomas to complete the Class Environmental Assessment, detail design and construction contract preparation for slope stabilization and road reconstruction on Sunset Drive between Elm Street and Chester Street in the City of St. Thomas. This work is currently scheduled for the fall of 2013.

The proposed improvements include:
– Construction of a Reinforced Soil System;
– Removal of abandoned services (as required); and
– Localized road reconstruction.

Due to the excavation depth requirements, and to recognize reduced costs and time efficiencies, it is recommended to close Sunset Drive between Elm Street and Chester Street for approximately 10-12 weeks in the fall. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

Public Meeting

The public is invited to attend a Public Information Centre (PIC) to review and comment on the recommended plan for improvments to Sunset Drive. The PIC is planned as a drop-in style open house session and will provide an opportunity to review the displays, discuss the proejct directly with members of the Project Team and provide comments. The PIC will be held on:

Date: Tuesday, May 7, 2013
Location: Memorial Arena and Auditorium, 80 Wilson Avenue, St. Thomas
Time: 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
