St. Thomas Public Library, April 20, 2015 – Just imagine what you can learn… from website design and marketing, to public speaking and management skills! St. Thomas Public Library is pleased that we can now provide our members with access to a variety of learning programs through “Gale Courses”. Through this unique program, St. Thomas residents can access instructor-led online courses through the St. Thomas Public Library website, completely free of charge!
“Part of our mission at the library is to inspire and engage life-long learning in our community,” says Rudi Denham, Chief Librarian. “With Gale Courses, St. Thomas residents will be able to enroll in courses covering all types of topics and subjects. Whether someone is considering going back to school to pursue a degree or just interested in digital photography, the course catalog offers something for everyone.”
Gale Courses offer library customers access to hundreds of instructor-led online courses covering everything from health and wellness to creative writing, computer programming, managing your small business, and much more.
“We are so excited to be able to offer this new service, which is completely free for library card holders. Courses run for six weeks, with new sessions beginning every month,” says Sarah Macintyre, Systems and Support Services Librarian. “The courses are entirely web-based, and include lessons, quizzes, and assignments. A professional instructor coordinates every course by pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback, and facilitating discussions.”
St. Thomas residents can enroll and participate in courses from any computer (either at home, or on one of the library’s computers). For more information about the courses offered, or to enroll in a course, please visit the library website.
