St. Thomas, ON – St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) is pleased to announce that Ms. Mary Stewart has accepted a position as STEGH Vice President effective March 31, 2014. The hospital began recruiting to fill this vacant position late last summer.
Ms. Stewart leaves her current position as Managing Consultant with KM& T Lean Evolutions Ltd., a worldwide business improvement firm specializing in operational performance improvement solutions. She is an innovative leader, and for the last five years has gained experience working nationally as a healthcare consultant. Previously, she held a variety of positions in clinical practice, education and leadership that included the position of vice president at a multi-site hospital in Ontario. Ms. Stewart will join the current STEGH executive team, which includes Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive Karen Davies, Vice President and Chief of Staff Dr. Nancy Whitmore, and President and CEO Paul Collins.
STEGH undertook a national and international search to fill this position intending to recruit a person with executive leadership experience as well as direct experience in applying the lean philosophy and approaches in healthcare.
Ms. Stewart began her career as a nurse and has since earned a Master of Business Administration, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and a Master Certificate Six Sigma.
“Mary brings her considerable experience, leadership skills and knowledge to our patient experience journey,” says Collins. “We are very pleased that she is joining our team.”
Ms. Stewart’s annual salary will be $175,000.
