STEGH Board of Governors recruits new Chief of Staff

(St. Thomas, ON) – Melanie Taylor, Chair St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital’s Board of
Governors, announced today that the Board has successfully recruited a new Chief of Staff for
the hospital. The role, previously held by Dr. Nancy Whitmore, became vacant when she was
appointed the new President and CEO effective November 1, 2016.

Dr. Waleed Chehadi assumed the Chief of Staff role effective Nov. 18 for a three-year term. Dr.
Chehadi is an Internal Medicine and Intensive Care Specialist at STEGH, and has been with the hospital since 2013. Dr. Chehadi graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2008.

“We are pleased to have successfully filled the Chief of Staff role with an internal candidate who has demonstrated passion and understanding of the health system and STEGH’s focus and commitment to continuous quality improvement, says Taylor.

Along with these part time administrative duties, Dr. Chehadi will continue to provide clinical
care to patients at STEGH.

“I look forward to continuing to advance the work done by Dr. Whitmore, who held this role for the past eight years, and I am excited to be working alongside such a skilled, competent and motivated group of physicians at STEGH,” says Dr. Chehadi.
