The City’s Mayor stepping up for the Challenge… will you?

Mayor Heather Jackson is joining the Active Elgin Community Challenge which is an opportunity for residents of Elgin County & St. Thomas to track their “moves” (minutes of physical activity). The Challenge runs from February 22nd to March 20th on the site. Tracking sheets are also available at Elgin St Thomas Public Libraries.

“The Challenge is a fun way to track my activity. I have my copy of the Hiking and Cycling Trail map that features all the parks, community centres and conservation areas and I am reminded of the amazing recreation opportunities we have in Elgin St Thomas” says Mayor Heather Jackson.

The Challenge will cover the four weeks from February 22nd to March 20th 2016. Active living has its own rewards, but there will be some cool prizes drawn from the list of registered participants. The first 80 families to register for the challenge will receive a free family swim pass. There will be weekly prizes as well all participants will be entered for the following prizes that will be drawn at the end of the Challenge:

• 1 Grand Prize: your choice of a 1 year YMCA family membership; or 2 weeks at Pearce Williams Summer Camp; or a deluxe outdoor sports equipment package (valued at $1,500)
• 2 draws for kids bikes with helmets
• 2 draws for Fitbits
