St. Thomas Public Library, September 1, 2014
In honour of our 130th Anniversary, we want you to feel welcome at the library. So St. Thomas Public Library is having “Fine Free September!” Throughout September, we will waive all outstanding overdue fines and accept overdue material without penalty. (Please note that we can only clear overdue fines, and not fees for lost or damaged books.) Simply speak to one of the friendly staff members at either Circulation Desk, and they’ll clear away the fines. If you have fines but can’t find your library card, not to worry! We’re also giving out free, limited edition library cards with a key fob in honour of our 130th Anniversary. We’ll get you all set up to come back to the library, fine free and ready to enjoy the free movies, materials, services and programs!
We are also thinking of our role in the community, and asking for your support for the Caring Cupboard Food Bank. September is one of those months when the food bank runs low on supplies. The Caring Cupboard assists approximately 350 families per month. That is about 800 individuals per month or 9,600 people per year! Of those, about 37% are children. When you visit the library, please remember that other people need help, too. We only ask that you donate what you can. There’s a particular need for jam, peanut butter, pasta, rice, canned goods, and hygiene articles.
Even if you don’t have any fines on your card, consider bringing in a donation anyway. Your community thanks you!
