Get to Know More About Crime Stoppers

Heather and Constable Heather White from Crime Stoppers

Thank you to Constable Heather White, Crime Stoppers Police Coordinator (right), donating a copy of “What Is Crime Stoppers” by Cal Millar to Public Services Librarian Heather Robinson (left). The book was donated by Cal Millar “So people in the community will have the opportunity to learn more about Crime Stoppers and the work it does not only in Canada, but around the world.”

The copy will be processed by our Technical Services team and added to the collection shortly. Thank you to Constable Heather White, author Cal Millar, and Crime Stoppers for adding this book to our collection.

The Letter from Cal Millar:

Enclosed is a complimentary copy of the book – What is Crime Stoppers.

It would be appreciated if the board would donate the book on behalf of your program to the local library, so people in the community will have the opportunity to learn more about Crime Stoppers and the work it does not only in Canada, but around the world.

Not everyone can afford the book and I’m hoping those in the area will value your gesture of making it available through the local library.

I want to thank you for everything you do as a Crime Stopper program to keep your community safe and I hope you find the book is a useful tool to promote the work that is done by all Crime Stoppers programs…

Sincerely,

Cal Millar @ CrimeStopBooks

About the Book:

This book explains how Crime Stoppers operates and highlights some unsolved cases. Created in 1976 by Greg MacAleese, an Albuquerque, New Mexico detective, to find the killers of a 19-year-old college student, Crime Stoppers has grown to a global crime-fighting network. Programs operate independently with the aim of solving crime, improving security, and keeping streets safe. Crime Stoppers offers a tipline where callers can anonymously provide leads to help police solve crime and if the tip results in an arrest, a cash reward is available. Also outlined in the book are several cases solved through Crime Stoppers.
